Most of Malabrigo yarns are named in Spanish, often using terms that describe their thickness. Examples include Finito, Mechita, Mecha, and Rasta. In Spanish, “Rasta” means “dreadlock” and also refers to a very thick cord, like our yarn. This lightly-fulled, single-ply yarn is massive in size—perfect for whipping up a super-cozy accessory in just hours. Made from Malabrigo's ultra-soft premium Uruguayan merino, Rasta comes in a variety of unique “watercolor multi” colorways as well as a rainbow of semi-solid basics. Incredibly squishy, it’s the go-to yarn when you want maximum warmth or speed!
Ideal for quick knits, textured stitches, hats, cowls, scarves, and outerwear.
Make sure to buy enough for your project, as each bag is a different dye lot and skeins can vary from bag to bag, or even within the same bag. For an even color blend, work from two balls at once, alternating every few rows.
Malabrigo uses the same dye formula each time, batches can vary—sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically—especially with variegated yarns. After quality control, skeins are labeled and packed into bags of five or ten, depending on the yarn. Once in stores, skeins from different bags may get mixed.
Colors in photos are for reference only; shades may vary slightly or noticeably due to the hand-dyed process.
